WOODBURY - LIPA spokesperson Vanessa Streeter says Long Island residents should be prepared in case the heavy snow and high winds cause widespread power outages during the blizzard.

Streeter says winds that exceed 50 mph can cause downed power lines.  She says there are some weather-related outages scattered throughout Long Island currently.

Residents are being urged to call 1-800-490-0075 and report any downed power lines or outages.
