HICKSVILLE - Tuesday marks the 11th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, and the Hicksville Fire Department got a head-start today on honoring the heroes who were lost. The fire department planted 400 flags in honor of all the rescuers who died in the rubble at Ground Zero. Two Hicksville firefighters, Scott Howard and Terry Ferrell, were lost in the attacks. Another 11 Hicksville residents were among the nearly 500 Long Islanders killed that day.
