WOODBURY - Attending high school prom is a rite of passage for many teenagers, but financial restrictions might stop some from attending.

A Hewlett family is asking for help to make prom possible for even more students. "Operation Prom" supplies new or used prom dressed to low-income high school seniors.

Randi and Peyton Nir, of Hewlett, opened their home on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. for Operation Prom's dress drive.

The family is collecting formal dresses, gowns and bridesmaid dresses.
