HEMPSTEAD - The nine women who make up the Hempstead Village Council were busy this week dishing out turkeys and all the trimmings to help those in need.

One council member said with the economy so bad it's a blessing to be able to give to people who really need the help. The women say they enjoy each other and love to volunteer.

Dorothy Potter, who has been with the group for 16 years, says it's important for people to feel the warmth from you. She says the council is concerned for many of the people they meet.
