Hempstead Tpke. named deadliest pedestrian road for 4th year

Hempstead Turnpike has been once again named the deadliest road for pedestrian in the tri-state area.This is the fourth straight year it has been given

WOODBURY - Hempstead Turnpike has been once again named the deadliest road for pedestrian in the tri-state area.

This is the fourth straight year it has been given the dubious distinction by the Tri-State Transportation Campaign.

Officials say 15 people were killed on Hempstead Turnpike between 2008 and 2010.

Sunrise Highway in Suffolk County is ranked the third worst. Sunrise and Merrick Road in Nassau County, Middle Country Road and Wicks Road in Suffolk County also made the list.
