HEMPSTEAD - Police say a 19-year-old is in critical condition after he was shot yesterday in his hometown of Hempstead.

Investigators say Juan Miranda, also of Hempstead, allegedly shot at a group of people on Fulton Avenue, wounding the teen.

Miranda was chased down by a group of people and arrested, police say. He is scheduled to be arraigned today.

Authorities haven't said what provoked the shooting.
