HEMPSTEAD - A former Hempstead police officer who admitted to selling prescription pills was sentenced to two-and-a-half years behind bars today.Brian Jones pleaded guilty last year to selling the powerful prescription painkiller oxycodone to an informant.The Mineola man was suspended without pay, then fired from the department a few months later.
