HEMPSTEAD - ? A Hempstead church and a senior center are dealing with damage today after heavy rains pounded the area yesterday.

Residents who had their cars on the street and live at the MacArthur Senior Village are cleaning up after the rain damaged their cars.

As janitors were cleaning up the inside of the building, a clear sign that warns people about parking in the lot when it rains heavy still stood.

Also damaged by flooding was the One Offering Tabernacle Church?s. The archbishop says the carpets, computers and sound systems were destroyed, as well as member information.

The church is expected to be rebuilt, but the archbishop does not expect insurance to cover the damages.
