Help for a hero: Vet targeted by thieves gets new car

CORAM - An Army veteran from Suffolk who had his car stolen has been given a new set of wheels.An organization that helps veterans get cars stepped up to provide Brian Martin with a new car after someone swiped his Jeep from his Coram driveway last week. The Jeep contained his back brace and his baby's stroller.The group that helped out, Recycled Rides, gets donated cars from insurance companies and other groups, and then fixes them up for veterans in need. About a dozen auto body shops on Long Island participate by donating parts and labor to fix up the cars.Martin was injured in Afghanistan and medically discharged recently.Police are still working on finding the Jeep.
