WEST ISLIP - The south shore of Long Island was hit the hardest by the heavy rain, and many homes have been flooded.

In West Islip, the flooding in the backyard of a home was as high as the above ground pool.

News 12 Long Island’s Doug Geed was on Hyman Avenue, where kids were swimming in the street and cars were submerged under water.

Some residents tell News 12 that even during Superstorm Sandy, the flooding was not this bad.

Officials are urging residents to use caution when driving.
