WEST SAYVILLE - Twenty states were under severe heat advisories today as the hot weather that plagued the area over the weekend continues.

Several East Coast states are without power and air conditioning due to summer storms that left two million people in the heat and caused 18 deaths.

On Long Island yesterday, storms brought lightning, rain and hail in some areas.

In West Sayville, the storms caused a tree to fall onto a house on Tyler Avenue. The homeowners were inside and told News 12 the tree pulled down the wires and ripped the electrical box off the house.
