WOODBURY - Suffolk County residents are filling out more applications for handgun permits compared to the year before, according to a new report from Newsday.

According to Newsday, there were 2,600 handgun permit applications in Suffolk in 2012, up from a little over 2,000 permit applications in 2011.

Experts interviewed by Newsday say the increase comes from concerns over new gun control laws.
