PATCHOGUE - The Great South Bay Music Festival kicked off Friday in Patchogue.

The Doobie Brothers headlined the night's festivities, which also included a variety of local bands. Long Islanders who attended last year's event said they would absolutely return, and are happy they did.

"It's a wonderful outdoor arena," said Dix Hills resident Jean McQuade. "It's a great day out."

In addition to music, the festival features arts and crafts displays and a slew of food vendors. It lasts until Sunday at Shorefront Park.
