Grateful LIers thank firefighters with refreshments

Suffolk residents grateful to the hundreds of firefighters who staved off a potential catastrophe are showing their appreciation the old-fashioned way: by bringing them refreshments.

MANORVILLE - Suffolk residents grateful to the hundreds of firefighters who staved off a potential catastrophe are showing their appreciation the old-fashioned way: by bringing them refreshments. Workers at East Wind Hotel and Catering Hall brought food and beverages today to the brush fire command post in Manorville. Many firefighters have been resting and regrouping there in between shifts battling the huge wildfire in the area.All day long, local residents have been doing the same, showing up with snacks and drinks for the crews.The Salvation Army and the Red Cross are also providing supplies for the firefighters.Bellone: Suffolk wildfires are largely containedExtended Suffolk wildfire coverage
