WOODBURY - As the Democratic National Convention kicks off, one high-profile Democrat is taking a noticeably low-key role in all the action. Gov. Andrew Cuomo, considered a rising star on the national political scene, will not be giving any speeches at this year's convention. The news is disappointing to some Long Islanders who think he'd be a great addition to the lineup considering all of his successes so far. Top Democrats on Long Island say they think Cuomo could gain a lot from some national exposure. Some analysts surmise that the governor doesn't want to fan any flames about a possible run in 2016. Cuomo has consistently dismissed any talk about of a possible White House run. But analysts say that if his successful governorship continues, so will the presidential rumors.
