ALBANY - (AP) - New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo says he won'tstop about 900 layoffs of state workers that were ordered by formerGov. David Paterson.

The layoffs began on Saturday.

On the day of his inauguration, Cuomo also says he will let atemporary income tax increase on wealthier New Yorkers end asscheduled.

The temporary, three-year income tax increase on New Yorkersmaking $200,000 or more a year is scheduled to end in a year.

Cuomo defies many of his fellow Democrats in the Legislature bysaying he won't support continuing the tax.
