WOODBURY - Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Wednesday the start of a nearly $14 million repaving project for Long Island.

Many roads are still riddled with potholes that opened up last winter.

Residents say that with another winter around the corner, they want repairs made before the streets get worse.

The governor's office says the project will repair more than 16 miles of state roads including routes 106, 231 and 25A in the towns of Oyster Bay, Babylon, Riverhead, Smithtown and North Hempstead.

A Cuomo representative says that the majority of the work will occur at night to avoid congestion. Officials say they hope to have the work done by the end of 2016.
