ROSLYN - A Glen Cove woman is accused of driving drunk with her 5-year-old daughter in the car when she crashed into a gas tanker. Police say Nicole Lopez, 30, was driving north on Mineola Avenue in Roslyn and tried to pass the rig, but instead collided with it Sunday night. According to investigators, the driver was ejected from the tanker, but the vehicle kept on going before crashing through a fence, which caused a fuel leak. No one was seriously hurt, but five nearby homes were evacuated as a precaution. The driver of the tanker was hospitalized with minor injuries.Police say an open bottle of wine was discovered in Lopez's car, and a Breathalyzer test revealed that her blood-alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit. Lopez is facing a slew of charges, including endangering the welfare of a child and aggravated driving while intoxicated. She was released on her own recognizance after being arraigned Monday.Lopez's daughter was released into the care of her grandmother.
