GLEN COVE - Students in Glen Cove got a recent history lesson in jazz.

Fourth- and fifth-grade special needs students at the School for Language, Communication and Development (SLCD) have spent 50 minutes each day for the past six weeks learning dance moves that were popular at the Famous Apollo Theatre in Harlem.

In the Legends of Jazz workshop, the students also learned about the history of the Apollo Theatre, the Harlem Renaissance and the Jazz Age.

Representatives from the Apollo Theater hope to have more dance programs at other schools in the near future.
