GLEN COVE - Glen Cove’s mayor will lay out the city’s latest plan to reopen Crescent Beach, which has been closed since 2009 due to contamination.

The secluded area was shut down by the Nassau Health Department because of high bacteria levels in the water.

Mayor Reginald Spinello held a meeting tonight to discuss his eight-week plan to remediate the beach and find the source of the contamination.

Nassau health officials say the beach will remain closed as long as bacteria levels exceed acceptable amounts.

The mayor hopes Crescent Beach will be opened by July 4.
