LONG BEACH - Police say a teenage girl is recovering at Nassau University Medical Center tonight after she was hit and dragged by a car in Long Beach last night.

The 15-year-old girl was walking along East Beech Street when an alleged drunk driver hit her before dragging her down the road for several hundred feet.

Police say German Gutierrez struck and dragged the girl before he took off and hit several more cars.

Gutierrez was arrested a short time later and is being charged with DWI. Officials say the girl, who attends Long Beach High School, suffered serious cuts to her leg and arm. The girl is expected to be OK.
