CARLE PLACE - A heated rematch is brewing in the race for Nassau County comptroller.

Incumbent George Maragos has served as the county's chief financial watchdog for the past four years. He says his audits have contributed to a trio of county budgets without tax increases, and that he has cut borrowing.

His opponent, Howard Weitzman, served as comptroller prior to Maragos. Weitzman says he brought the county back from the brink of bankruptcy, and thus deserves another chance in office.

Weitzman has accused Maragos of miscounting his budget numbers - claims Maragos says are malicious and untrue.
