SANDS POINT - The famous Gatsby mansion will soon be demolished at Lands End in Sands Point.

The 25 room colonial revival is said to be F. Scott Fitzgerald's inspiration for Daisy Buchanan's home in "The Great Gatsby."

The Gold Coast mansion is slated to be demolished this month.

The realtor re-developing the site tells Newsday that the taxes and maintenance on the 24,000 square foot home costs $4,500 a day.
