HEMPSTEAD - Police say a gas station attendant was stabbed early this morning during an attempted robbery in Hempstead. It happened at around 3 a.m. at the Vega Gas Station on Henry Street. Officers say a man asked the 64-year-old attendant for change, then tried to take money from the man's pocket. When the victim fought back, the suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed him in the arm.
