ISLANDIA - Gas prices are soaring across Long Island and some stations are charging more than $4 a gallon for regular gas.
Officials say Long Islanders are paying almost $1 more than they were a year ago to fill up at the pump. The national average for gas is $3.62 a gallon. On Long Island gas prices are 20 cents higher than the national average at $3.81 a gallon.
Officials say the political unrest overseas has sent oil and gasoline prices thru the roof. President Barack Obama says the U.S. has to develop more alternative energy sources.
