Garden City attorney accused of stealing from more clients (5/17/16)

HEMPSTEAD - A Garden City attorney is facing new charges for allegedly stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from his clients.

Steven Morelli, of Manhattan, was arraigned in Hempstead on Tuesday. He faces 13 counts of grand larceny for allegedly stealing $550,000 from 13 clients between 2014 and 2016. The clients reported to authorities that they hadn't received their settlement checks from Morelli for their court cases.

He was released on $50,000 bail.

Morelli, who has a law office on Franklin Avenue, was first arrested in March for allegedly misusing about $200,000 in settlement money that was supposed to go to four of his clients.
