COPIAGUE - Long Island’s long knish crisis is over.

Copiague-based Gabila’s Knishes has resumed production and delivery of square knishes. A factory fire back in September brought production to a halt, and caused a shortage of square knishes throughout the region.

Knish lovers like Paul Bruno, of Merrick, were able to finally fulfill their cravings today, as the company made deliveries to approximately 20 locations.

“They were gone for the longest time … I missed them, I can’t tell you how much I missed them,” says Bruno.

Co-owner Stacey Ziskin Gabay says Gabila's usually makes up to 15 million knishes a year.

“There is nothing good about having a fire, but at least we know how much our customers do love our product,” says Gabay.
