FREEPORT - ? A Freeport fisherman who devoted his life to Long Island?s nautical traditions died in a boating crash yesterday.

Police say Cory Weyant was in the Woodcelft Channel after hunting geese when he hit a piling.

Weyant was thrown from the boat and hit his head on the pole. Weyant died from the injuries sustained during the crash.

Officials say another man was also injured and one was treated at the scene.

Weyant was a member of Long Island Traditions, a group that shares information on local history.
