BETHPAGE - Local and federal officials held a forum in Bethpage today meant to prepare the religious community for potential attacks as the Jewish High Holy Days approach. The forum included discussion of the best strategies to deal with an active shooter situation in houses of worship. Officials with the Department of Homeland Security and Nassau Police Department's intelligence and counterterrorism teams gave presentations.Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.) also spoke at the meeting. "There's no one single answer to stopping these attacks," he said. "The idea is to have layers of defense, to have trip wires." Authorities held the briefing in the wake of last month's Sikh temple shooting in Wisconsin.
