Former NYC Mayor Ed Koch eulogized at Upper East Side funeral service
MANHATTAN - Family, friends and dignitaries bid farewell today to iconic former New York City Mayor Ed Koch.
Thousands, including former New York City mayors Rudy Giuliani and David Dinkins, attended the services at Temple Emanu-El on Manhattan's Upper East Side. Former President Bill Clinton and Gov. Andrew Cuomo were also in attendance.
Koch, who died Friday of congestive heart failure, became a hero to millions when he helped clean up city government, residential blight and a polluted subway system. He is also credited with guiding the city from the brink of financial ruin.

In his eulogy, Mayor Michael Bloomberg said Koch, 88, was the "quintessential mayor" who defined the five boroughs.
Koch served in office from 1978 to 1989.
