WOODBURY - A cold snap is heading east after dumping ice and snow on parts of the Midwest, and it’s expected to bring some wintry weather to Long Island on Sunday.

The sub-freezing temperatures and icy conditions that blanketed parts of Texas are on the way to the area, although they won't pack as much as a punch when they arrive.

News 12 meteorologists say to expect cloudy skies and scattered flurries on Sunday, changing later to a wintry mix of snow and sleet before switching entirely to rain at night. There isn't supposed to be any accumulations, but the roads could get slippery.

The rain will stick around into Monday. Drivers heading to work on Monday morning are being urged to give themselves extra time to deal with potentially messy roads.
