WOODBURY - Floodwaters from the storm trapped people on Long Island today.

Police say 21-year-old William Shotack and 18-year-old Suzan Wahatly fell asleep in their vehicle at the Mastic Beach Property Owners Marina.

The couple woke up just after 4 a.m. surrounded by 3 feet of water and had to be rescued by police and firefighters. They were not injured.

The storm also trapped people in their homes. A News 12 viewer on Sumpwams Avenue in Babylon sent in photos of water flooding the entire street.

Residents say they didn't want to risk getting their cars stuck in the floodwaters, so they stayed inside.
