ATLANTIC BEACH - Long Islanders say flat tires have become an epidemic in Long Beach, Atlantic Beach and Island Park.

Experts says post-Sandy construction is to blame. They advise motorists to check their car insurance to make sure they're covered for roadside repairs.

A spokesman for the City of Long Beach says it will step up the sweeping program and do spot inspections to cut down on dangerous debris getting in the roadway.
