WANTAGH - Emergency crews all over Long Island are operating at full speed as a wintry nor'easter slams the region. Crews in Wantagh spent much of the day responding to fires and carbon monoxide alarms as residents struggle to keep warm. Responders expected to be running around for most of the night as the temperatures drop and the roads become slippery. Officials from the Wantagh Fire District say they've called in extra personnel and dispatchers to handle the volume of calls tonight.
