JONES BEACH - After the wet weather cleared out, Long Islanders packed Jones Beach for its first Independence Day fireworks show in five years.

State Parks officials teamed up with sponsor Astoria Bank to revive the tradition.

Officials say more than 100,000 spectators turned out for the show.

Police increased their presence at the beach Saturday night amid a heightened terror alert by the Department of Homeland Security. Officials added surveillance cameras and screened all bags people brought through the park's central mall area.

The 25-minute fireworks show began at 9:30 p.m.
