VALLEY STREAM - Police swarmed and evacuated a Valley Stream neighborhood after they found what they now believe was a firework.

Police say they were called to a home on East Chester Street on an unrelated matter when they discovered what they thought was an IED. After a closer look, authorities say they believe it was a commercial pyrotechnic or large firework.

The bomb squad neutralized the device and removed it from the backyard.

Authorities say charges have not been filed against the homeowner.
