CENTER MORICHES - Chopper 12 was over the scene in Center Moriches this morning as first responders rescued a man by cutting out a second-floor window and lowering him down to the ground. Officials say a 55-year-old man needed help after he slipped and fell on his bathroom floor. Police say the home was overcrowded with boxes and piles of trash, making it difficult to navigate. According to first responders, the man was overweight and due to the nature of the home, they had to cut out a window to rescue him. The man was packed onto a stretcher and lowered down with a rope system and a series of ladders. He was conscious throughout the ordeal. The man was taken to Brookhaven Hospital, where he's currently in stable condition. Officials with the Town of Brookhaven say the house has been condemned because some rooms were packed to the ceiling with items and trash. They say the home could be declared livable again once it's cleared out.To watch the full Chopper 12 video of the man being rescued, go to channel 612 on your iO digital cable box and select the 'iO Extra' tab.VIDEO: Man rescued from Center Moriches home
