WANTAGH - Officials say two Oceanside fire trucks on their way to training spotted a house fire in Wantagh and rushed to the blaze. The trucks were headed to the Fire Service Academy at 7:30 p.m. last night.

Officials say the trucks saw smoke on Sunrise Highway and followed it to a burning home on Oakland Avenue in Wantagh.

A police officer on the scene had already rescued a woman from the house.

Wantagh firefighters battled the blaze for more than an hour.

According to officials, one volunteer had been hospitalized with chest pains.
