HEWLETT - A fire that broke out this morning in Hewlett destroyed a flower shop during the Valentine's Day rush.

Flames ignited inside the Hewlett Flower Shop on the corner of Broadway and Princeton Avenue, destroying the business and the upstairs apartments in the building.

Linda White, a worker at Hewlett Flower Shop, says her boss lost everything, but it could've been worse.

"Thank god all the kids were in school, there's a lot of kids that live up there," White says.

So far, there are no reports of injuries. Three dozen people have been displaced by the fire.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
