RIDGE - FBI agents have questioned a Long Island native in connection with the Boston Marathon bombing suspects.

Britney Smith, 23, of Ridge, has been questioned by the FBI about 19-year-old terror suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. She says she has known the Tsarnaev family for years and even spent a month with them in Boston.

Smith says she believes Dzhokhar is innocent and never saw any indications that he believed in jihadist ideology.

The twin explosions killed three people and wounded more than 260. Officials now say they were triggered by a remote-controlled detonator within several blocks of the bombs.

Federal agents say the Tsarnaev brothers may have built the bombs with the help of Inspire, an online magazine made by former Westbury resident Samir Khan, who was killed in a U.S. drone strike in Yemen two years ago.

New York Police Commissioner Ray Kelly says the Tsarnaev brothers may have planned to travel to New York after the attacks for a party.
