Farmingdale State College student diagnosed with MRSA, second college case this week

FARMINGDALE - A commuter student at Farmingdale State College has been diagnosed with the bacterial infection known as MRSA.

The student is the second to be diagnosed with the bacterial infection in as many days. LIU Post officials say a student athlete was treated for MRSA-like symptoms earlier this week.

Farmingdale is disinfecting all classrooms and athletic facilities where the student may have been. School officials also put out an alert via email to the entire campus.

The Farmingdale student is at home recovering. News 12 Long Island has been told the LIU Post athlete has fully recovered.
