FARMINGDALE - ? The Village of Farmingdale appears to be working toward a compromise between skateboarders and residents regarding the use of two streets.

A proposed law would fine skateboarders $100 for using Yoakum Street and Fairview Road as their personal skate park.

Residents say the skateboarders are causing a dangerous situation for motorists.

Residents and skateboarders have devised a number of ideas, including limiting the hours that the skateboarders can use the streets or requiring skateboarders to use safety equipment while riding.

The village board may vote on a compromise plan at a meeting in November.
