SMITH POINT - Family and friends gathered tonight to remember the victims of TWA flight 800.
It?s been 15 years since that tragic evening when 230 unsuspecting passengers on TWA flight 800 were killed when their plane exploded mid air over the waters off Long Island, minutes after departing John F. Kennedy Airport.
Hundreds of people attended the memorial at Smith Point County Park that concluded with attendees casting flowers into the ocean.
Those attending included Avery Ross who was supposed to be a flight attendant aboard that flight but opted out just before departure.
