MINEOLA - County Executive Ed Mangano (R-Nassau) has unveiled today a job creation plan for the development of the new Nassau hub. In his proposal, which was submitted to the Long Island Regional Economic Development Council this afternoon, Mangano outlined plans for a research and development expo center and the construction of a new sports and entertainment arena possibly in Elmont. The plan also includes a proposal to bring more jobs to the Belmont Raceway and the old Grumman property in Bethpage."The Elmont community welcomes a Coliseum, the Elmont community welcomes everything," says Pat Nicolosi, of the Elmont East End Civic Association. "People need jobs."In his report, Mangano asked the state for $7 million in funding to help with the design of the county hub.
