Ex-Yankee from LI accused of abusing 8-year-old girl

A former Major League Baseball player who now coaches for the Town of Oyster Bay has been arrested for allegedly sexually abusing an 8-year-old girl.

WOODBURY - A former Major League Baseball player who now coaches for the Town of Oyster Bay has been arrested for allegedly sexually abusing an 8-year-old girl. Police say 63-year-old Rosendo "Rusty" Torres, of Massapequa, victimized the girl on April 30 and again today. According to investigators, the child was abused in a town-owned vehicle. Torres played with the Yankees in 1971-72, and played with several other teams, including the Cleveland Indians. The Town of Oyster Bay says Torres has been suspended without pay and all events he was scheduled to conduct have been canceled.Torres is facing four felony charges and is scheduled to be arraigned tomorrow.
