Ex-Southampton supervisor to sue Town of Westhampton, police

WESTHAMPTON - Former Southampton Town Supervisor Linda Kabot plans to sue the Town of Westhampton and its police force, according to papers filed in court this week.

Kabot was up for re-election when she was arrested in 2009 and charged with drunken driving. She had submitted to a field sobriety test but refused a Breathalyzer test, and was arrested.

Kabot was acquitted of the DWI charges three months ago, but she lost her bid for re-election. Her lawyer claims that officials sought her prosecution maliciously to ruin her career.
