A new report conducted by the Empire Justice Center reveals that minority communities suffer the most home foreclosures on Long Island.

CENTRAL ISLIP - Foreclosures are still a problem on Long Island, and they're hitting minority communities especially hard.

A new report from the Empire Justice Center (EJC) says 27 percent of all foreclosure filings in New York state come from Long Island. The EJC says there is a disproportionate concentration of foreclosures in minority communities like Hempstead, Elmont, Brentwood and Wyandanch.

The EJC says this really hampers growth, and that banks need to become more flexible in their lending terms and negotiations to fix mortgages.
