RIVERHEAD - It was a special day for some Suffolk automotive students and the family of a fallen Marine.

Eastern Suffolk BOCES automotive technology students presented Christian Haerter with a fully refurbished Power Wagon in honor of his deceased son, Lance Cpl. Jordan Haerter.

Haerter is a Long Island native who was killed in action in Iraq on April 22, 2008.

Haerter was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart, the Navy Cross and Combat Action Ribbon.

Haerter's father originally purchased the 1953 Power Wagon and requested that ESBOCES automotive technology students repair it so he can show it off this Memorial Day and drive it in the Sag Harbor Veterans Day parade.
