RIVERHEAD - With memories of the monstrous snowstorm that pummeled eastern Long Island last year with 26 inches of snow, residents are taking no chances with the possibility of snow coming overnight.

The storm hit one year ago today left many unprepared, so residents are out buying shovels, ice melt and snow blowers in case the storm is worse than expected.

"It wasn't supposed to be much from what I heard at first and then it became a lot of snow," said Bob Cipriano, who works at Home Depot selling snow supplies.

Residents are being warned that while the storm isn't expected to drop much snow, even an inch of snow can make driving conditions dangerous.
