EAST ISLIP - A farm in East Islip is keeping its prices down while sustaining a non-committal corps of workers. Organics Today Farm, located on Washington Street, functions completely on volunteers. Owner Michael Massino says he requires about 100 hours of time through the season and offers free produce in return. He also claims his vegetables are pesticide-free. Of the many volunteers, kindergarten teacher Jennifer Dittrich says she wants to be a healthy role model for her students. Dana Grant says she started volunteering for community service, but that she still works on the property after finishing her hours. Massino says he can provide low prices to customers since he doesn't pay his workers. Organics Today Farm
